Mbappé is sent off after a brutal tackle… and may miss the Copa del Rey final!

Kylian Mbappé received his first red card for Real Madrid during Sunday’s La Liga match against Alavés.

The French international committed a brutal tackle with his foot on Alavés player Antonio Blanco, and after consulting VAR, he was shown a red card in the 38th minute.

Mbappé was subjected to harsh criticism from Real Madrid fans and other clubs for this strange tackle, especially since the ball did not warrant such violence.

Due to this expulsion, there are doubts that Mbappé will miss the Copa del Rey final, scheduled for April 26 against Barcelona at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville.

Typically, players are suspended for between two and four matches in all domestic competitions for such violent tackles, but the disciplinary committee’s position remains unknown.

Real Madrid is scheduled to face Athletic Bilbao and Getafe in La Liga and then face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. If he is suspended for more than two matches in all competitions, he will miss El Clásico.

In any case, the most likely scenario is for the suspension to be limited to the league competition only, or for a two-match suspension. Therefore, the 25-year-old Frenchman will be available for the Copa del Rey final.
