The newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that a major argument occurred between Kylian Mbappe and a number of Barcelona players and officials after the match between the Catalan club and Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Mbappe scored two goals that led PSG to advance to the semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona, and according to the report, he provoked Barcelona players during his return to the locker room after the match.
Mbappe said in French, “This is football, and we must talk on the field, not outside it,” which some Barcelona players interpreted as a speech directed at them.
From here, the Barça players went out to confront Mbappé and began exchanging insults and shouting with him, and the matter reached the point that at least 60 people were present during this dispute between the two parties.
Fortunately, the matter did not develop into more than that, and did not reach a physical assault, but it became clear that Mbappe wanted to provoke Barcelona in one way or another.
Mbappé’s provocations did not stop with Barcelona players, but rather reached the fans, as he provoked the fans in the stands of the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium after the end of the match as well.
It is noteworthy that Mbappe is on his way to moving to Barcelona’s eternal rival, Real Madrid, next summer.
