Mbappe: Sorry, I don’t want to be “Ronaldo’s successor” in Madrid

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has rejected comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo or being considered the Portuguese star’s successor at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The French international has just opened his scoring account with Real Madrid in La Liga with a brace against Real Betis after moving to the Merengue for free last summer.

The newspapers continue to compare Mbappe to the legend Ronaldo, and many believe that he could be the successor of “Don” at the Madrid club.

Mbappe responded to that by saying, “Cristiano Ronaldo is my idol in football.”

He added, “But I don’t want this pressure, I just want to be Kylian Mbappe.”

He concluded, “I don’t want to be Ronaldo’s successor, the only pressure I have now is to adapt to the team.”

It is worth noting that Mbappe, when announcing his move to Real Madrid, published pictures of himself as a child with Ronaldo, while the captain of Saudi Al-Nasr congratulated him at the time and wished him to be the new star in Ancelotti’s squad.
