Paris Saint-Germain faces a significant threat due to its refusal to pay the outstanding dues to its former star and current Real Madrid player, Kylian Mbappé.
According to Le Monde, Mbappé has demanded that PSG’s management pay €55 million, which is the value of his delayed wages and deferred loyalty bonus since last February.
PSG’s management has refused to pay the amount, leading the Real Madrid star to turn to the legal committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the legal committee of the French League and file a complaint against Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s administration.
If PSG’s management persists in its position and does not pay Mbappé’s dues, the capital club will face two major penalties from the French league and UEFA.
From the French league, a transfer ban is expected to be imposed until all of Mbappé’s dues are paid. As for UEFA, the matter could escalate to exclusion from the Champions League.
PSG must provide proof that it has paid all player arrears by next March to obtain a European license. Thus, failure to pay Mbappé’s dues will mean that the French club will be deprived of participation in the continental competition next season.
