France’s national team coach, Didier Deschamps, confirmed that Kylian Mbappe needs surgical intervention in his nose, but he will postpone it until the end of his country’s participation in Euro 2024.
Mbappe suffered a broken nose in the Austria match, and although what was initially reported was that the player did not need surgery, Deschamps revealed that this was unfounded.
In the press conference before the Netherlands match, the French coach said in this regard, “Even if he does not undergo surgery right now, he will certainly undergo it after the tournament.”
Mbappe can participate in France’s remaining matches in Euro 2024 with a protective nose mask, but he cannot continue in this condition for long, according to Deschamps’ assurances.
Thus, after the end of Euro 2024, the player will inevitably resort to surgery, and then he will be forced to be absent from Real Madrid for a longer period during the preparation period for the new season.
In principle, Mbappe needs at least 10 days away from football to recover from the surgery, after which he needs to take about two weeks off before resuming preparation for next season.
All of this indicates that Mbappe may not be with Real Madrid on the US tour, and makes his participation in the European Super Cup or the first round of La Liga questionable.
Real Madrid will play the European Super Cup against Atalanta on Wednesday, August 14, and then begin the journey to defend the La Liga title against Real Mallorca on August 18.
