Lionel Messi admitted that he suffered a lot as a Barcelona fan because of Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane.
The Argentine star has expressed his great admiration for Zizou on more than one occasion, while the French legend has always praised the flea and considered him the best in history.
In a new interview in this regard, Messi said about Zidane, “For me, he is one of the best players in history, I have always admired him.”
He also added, “I suffered a lot from him because he played for Real Madrid and I always followed him there.”
He concluded, “Zidane was distinguished by his elegance as a football player, he was tall and I always felt that he was different, he is really charming and had everything a football player needs.”
Messi did not catch up with Zidane as a player much after Zizou retired in 2006 while the Argentine’s career was taking off, but they competed after that when the French coach coached Real between 2015 and 2018.
