Lionel Messi closed the door on the possibility of his return to Barcelona, and confirmed that Inter Miami will be his last club in his football career.
The Argentine star has an extended contract with the American club until the summer of 2026, and rumors have long been raised about the possibility of him returning to Barcelona and concluding his career there.
In a press interview, Messi was asked if Inter Miami was the last club in his career, and he answered clearly, saying, “Yes, this is the last club I will play for.”
He also added, “I love football very much and I enjoy everything more because I realize that every time time is running out.”
Thus, the only possible return for Messi to Barcelona is to hold a big farewell party, as President Joan Laporta is said to be planning.
It is noteworthy that the Spanish newspapers suggested that this party would be held next November, but Messi came out and denied that there had been any communication between him and Barcelona in this regard so far.
