Lionel Messi scored his two goals in his team Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory over Philadelphia Union in the American League competition on Sunday morning.
The Argentine international has been absent from Inter Miami since last July after suffering a severe ankle sprain during the 2024 Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia.
After two months of absence, Messi did not need more than 30 minutes to score two goals and turn his team’s deficit into an advance, and then Luis Suarez scored the third goal in the last minute.
Thanks to this double, Messi reached the 1215th contribution in his history, as the player with the most goal contributions in the history of football.
The flea commented on his return to the stadiums by saying, “The truth is that I am very tired due to the high temperature and humidity in Miami.”
He also added, “However, I wanted to return to football again, I have been away for a long time and I am not used to it.”
“I’ve been feeling better lately so we decided I should start the game, I’m very happy, I’m really happy,” he concluded.
