Al-Ittihad Club President, Anmar Al-Haili, revealed a huge surprise when he revealed the value of the offer made by the Saudi League to assign Lionel Messi to Al-Hilal last summer.
After the end of Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the way was paved for Al Hilal to obtain his services, but in the end, Al-Barghouth chose to join Inter Miami.
According to Al-Haili, in statements reported by international media, Al-Hilal offered Messi a salary of 1.4 billion euros distributed over two years.
Although the offer was nothing short of legendary and under it Messi would receive more than double Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary with Al-Nasr, the player decided to move to the American League.
Also according to Al-Haili, Messi justified his decision to move to America to Saudi officials because of his family, who had always wanted to live in the United States.
Al-Haili concluded his speech by saying, “Of course, it was surprising that he rejected an offer like this, but we respect that because family is more important than money. This shows the extent of Messi’s loyalty to his family and its influence on his professional decisions.”
