Messi Returns and Scores for Inter Miami in the CONCACAF Champions League (Video)

Lionel Messi returned to Inter Miami’s lineup against Cavaliers in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16.

Messi missed Inter Miami’s last three matches in all competitions due to muscle discomfort, but made his comeback against Cavaliers in Jamaica.

The Argentine international did not start and replaced Luis Suarez in the 53rd minute of Inter Miami’s 2-0 victory, securing a place in the quarterfinals.

Suarez opened the scoring for Javier Mascherano’s side in the 37th minute, and Messi then scored the second goal in the final minute of the match, securing a 4-0 aggregate victory for Inter Miami.

Messi’s goal was his third in the CONCACAF Champions League this season, and Messi also has two assists, but both were in one MLS game.

Messi’s final challenge before joining the Argentine national team in the World Cup qualifiers will be on March 17 against Atlanta United in the MLS.

Argentina will play the Superclásico against Brazil on March 26, before traveling to face Uruguay on March 22.
