Lionel Messi revealed that the environment in which he lived during his time at Paris Saint-Germain was the reason for his unsuccessful experience with the French club.
Messi joined Barcelona for free in the summer of 2021 and played there for two years, but he never succeeded in delivering what was expected of him and suffered a fierce attack from the fans against him.
In an interview with ESPN, Messi was asked about the reasons for his suffering and the modest levels he performed in the French capital, revealing that his neighbors were a major reason for that.
The Argentine international said, “The neighbors were knocking on our door at nine or ten in the evening to say that my children should not play football.”
He also added, “I really suffered from the neighbours’ disturbance, and this affected me on the field because I was not well on a personal level.”
He concluded, “Unfortunately, things did not go as I had hoped for Paris Saint-Germain, but I have nothing against them. It is true that I suffered a lot from this step, and the best thing that happened was that I won the World Cup after that.”
