The Argentine newspaper “Olé” revealed that Lionel Messi had insulted the referee of the Inter Miami and Charlotte match at dawn on Sunday in the American League.
Messi scored a goal in his team’s 1-1 draw against Charlotte, but after the final whistle, he went to the referee and attacked him severely.
According to the Argentine newspaper, Messi told the referee “You are a bad man” and repeated it more than once.
The 37-year-old did not stop there, but rather told the referee “You son of a bitch, you are a bad man.”
In response, the referee showed Messi a yellow card.
It is not known whether Messi’s actions may result in a fine being imposed on him by the American League, whether it is financial or suspension.
Inter Miami is supposed to play at dawn on Thursday against Columbus Crew, and so far Messi’s participation is certain unless the American League punishes him, which is unexpected.
