Messi’s close friend reveals his position on the 2026 World Cup

Argentina national team star and Lionel Messi’s close friend, Rodrigo De Paul, believes that the Inter Miami star has not yet made his decision about participating in the 2026 World Cup.

When Messi was asked on more than one occasion about his position on being in the North American World Cup, he said that he had not made his decision yet and would leave it to his body to decide whether he could continue until then or not.

This time, De Paul was asked as he is very close to Messi, to respond by saying, “Let’s hope he participates in the 2026 World Cup.”

He also added, “The truth is that I don’t think Messi himself knows what he will do and whether he will participate in this World Cup or not.”

He concluded, “It will depend on his physical condition. Messi is very important for Argentina, not only on the pitch but also off it. We really hope he will be with us at the World Cup.”

Messi had just returned from injury with Argentina in the 2024 Copa America final, and scored two goals in Inter Miami’s win over Philadelphia Union in the American League.
