Former footballer Ahmed Hossam Mido considered Mohamed Salah’s goal celebration against Ipswich Town to be a “loyalty to Zamalek”.
Salah celebrated his goal by throwing the bow and arrow, which is the same historical logo of Zamalek.
Mido wrote on his X account, “The legendary Salah’s goal celebrates Zamalek’s logo… He never forgot Zamalek’s favor on him.”
It is likely that Mido is just joking with the fans, considering that Salah has no connection, near or far, with Zamalek.
Former Zamalek players were accustomed to celebrating by throwing the bow and arrow when they played professionally, just as Mostafa Mohamed does after every goal he scores for Nantes.
The 32-year-old was close to joining Zamalek in 2011, but the club’s president at the time, Mamdouh Abbas, refused to complete the deal, and the player then moved to Basel and began his historic career in Europe.
Salah has never publicly declared his footballing preferences in Egypt, and once simply stated that he loves Ismaily.
