Milan’s management decided to dismiss coach Paulo Fonseca from his position after a 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday in the Italian League.
The Rossoneri are suffering from a significant decline in results and levels this season, which is evident in their eighth place in the Serie A standings.
According to journalist “Fabrizio Romano”, Milan’s management gave Fonseca the last time to save his position during the Roma match, but the Portuguese failed.
After the draw at the heart of San Siro, Milan’s management saw that it was time to sever ties with Fonseca, especially since his relationship with several players has deteriorated recently, most notably Rafael Leao.
Romano stated that the closest to succeed Fonseca in training Milan is another Portuguese Sergio Conceicao, who supervised Porto from 2017 until the end of last season.
As a coach, Conceicao won the Portuguese League 3 times, the Portuguese Cup 4 times, the Portuguese Super Cup 3 times and the Portuguese League Cup, and also won the Belgian Cup with Standard Liege.
It should be noted that Conceicao, as a player, previously wore the shirt of Milan’s eternal rival, Inter, between 2001 and 2003.
