The Athletic network confirmed that Luka Modric has decided not to move to the Saudi League if he leaves Real Madrid next summer.
The Croatian international’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of this season, and all indications are that he will leave for free due to his lack of participation and loss of his starting position as he ages.
According to the network, despite Modric’s expected departure from Real Madrid, the player does not want to join any Saudi club and retire from the Roshen League.
The 39-year-old has made his decision that he will either move to another club within the continent of Europe, or he will leave for the American League, while the Saudi League is now out of his considerations.
Indeed, Modric is receiving interest from the club with which he started his career, Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia, and he is also expected to receive other opportunities in the European leagues if the door opens in the coming months.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly, Al-Ittihad and Al-Nasr tried to include Modric last summer, but the player’s decision was to continue with Real Madrid, so the move was postponed until the summer of 2024.
Despite the huge financial offers Modric is expected to receive from Saudi Arabia, the player wants either Europe or America to ensure his physical and technical readiness to compete in the 2026 World Cup with Croatia and retire after that.
