The Mirror reported that current indications indicate that Virgil van Dijk is on his way to leaving Liverpool when his contract expires next June.
Last week, the Dutch international said that his future remains in doubt and that there is no agreement between him and the Reds regarding a renewal.
According to the British newspaper, Liverpool have intensified negotiations with Crystal Palace center-back Mark Gueye in recent weeks in preparation for signing him next summer.
The signing of the English player is undoubtedly a clear indication that he will be Van Dijk’s successor at Anfield, especially since Ibrahima Konate is on track to renew his contract soon.
In any case, signing Gueye would be extremely expensive for Liverpool’s coffers. Crystal Palace rejected £60 million from Newcastle last summer to secure the player.
It should be noted that Gueye has offers from several other English clubs, but according to the Mirror, an agreement between him and Liverpool is very close.
