Neymar did not hide his objection and anger at the absence of Real Madrid star Rodrygo’s name from the list of candidates for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
France Football magazine had announced the identity of 30 players nominated for the Ballon d’Or, with the list to be reduced to only 3 names next month.
The list included several surprising names such as Girona striker Artem Dovbyk, Bayer Leverkusen left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.
Many players who shone last season were absent, most notably Rodrygo and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
In turn, Neymar supported his compatriot Rodrygo, and posted a picture of him on his Instagram account and wrote on it, “At least among the top 5 players in the world. Brilliant.”
It is worth noting that the Ballon d’Or list includes only one Brazilian, Vinicius Junior, and logically he is the most likely to win the award for the first time in his career.
