Spanish newspaper “Sport” has reported a shocking decision made by Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams regarding his future this summer.
The Spanish international is highly sought after by Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain and a number of English clubs have joined the race to sign him.
Williams has not yet announced his final decision, but “Sport” indicates that he is unlikely to leave Athletic Bilbao.
The 22-year-old owes a lot to Bilbao and is ready to stay with them for another year and play in the Champions League with the Basque club.
Nico previously promised his brother Iñaki that he would play for another year at San Mamés, which fuels the truth of the news that he has decided to stay until the summer of 2025 with Ernesto Valverde’s squad.
Barcelona officials have been informed of this matter, but they have not lost hope and will try to convince Williams until the last moment, although the main focus now is on finalizing the deal for Dani Olmo.
It is worth noting that Williams’ contract with Bilbao includes a release clause of only €58 million.
