Not for Real Madrid…the Euro 2024 star is approaching Arsenal

La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper revealed that Riccardo Calafiori is on the verge of moving to Arsenal during the current summer Mercato.

Calafiori was linked to many major clubs after his brilliance with Bologna last season and with Italy in Euro 2024, and Real Madrid was the most interested and placed him as an alternative plan if the contract with Lenny Yoro failed.

But according to the latest Italian report, Arsenal has completed its agreement with the 22-year-old player on all personal terms, and has now begun negotiating with Bologna and is close to concluding the deal.

Calafiori will cost Arsenal’s coffers an amount exceeding 50 million euros, and the Gunners are currently trying to reduce this number through negotiations, although this is unlikely to succeed.

Bologna will gain more than 40 million euros from selling Calafiori, as it signed the player last summer for only 4 million euros from Basel, Switzerland.

Although all indications confirm the Italian’s transfer to Arsenal, Chelsea is still interested and may enter negotiations at any moment, which, according to the report, forces Arsenal to accelerate negotiations to reach an agreement with Bologna soon.
