The “Foot Far” network revealed that Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s coach and last season’s treble champion, is not the highest-paid coach in the world, despite all his achievements.
According to the newspaper, the Spanish coach occupies second place on the list of highest-paid coaches, receiving 22 million euros annually, a huge difference from the coach with the largest salary in the world of football.
This coach is Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, who earns 34 million euros annually and is classified by Rojiblancos fans as the club’s first legend after he brought them back to the senior ranks.
The strange thing is that the Argentine coach has experienced a noticeable decline in the last years with Atletico Madrid, and this season he has practically lost the opportunity to win any title unless he performs a miracle in the Champions League.
However, Simeone remains the highest paid coach in the world, and his contract with the Madrid club still extends until the summer of 2027.
After Simeone and Guardiola, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp comes with an annual salary of 18 million euros, but the German will leave the Reds at the end of this season and stop training for at least a year.
A final surprise comes in fourth place, as Al-Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard appears to have received 17 million euros with the Saudi club.
Gerrard took over as coach of Al-Ettifaq this season, but it was eliminated from the King’s Cup and is in eighth place in the league. However, he is highly appreciated by the management that has just renewed his contract again.
