The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has entered into negotiations with a coach from the Spanish league to succeed Dorival Junior as coach of the Seleção.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was the first choice to succeed Junior, but the problem is that his contract with Los Blancos extends until the summer of 2026 and he has no plans to leave at the moment.
The second candidate was Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus, who reportedly agreed to coach Brazil on the condition that he begin his tenure next July after the Club World Cup.
According to recent reports, the CBF has contacted another coach, the experienced Manuel Pellegrini, the current coach of Real Betis.
The Chilean coach’s contract with his Spanish team still extends until the summer of 2027, but he has several offers from the Saudi league and Europe, and Brazil recently entered into negotiations with him.
The 71-year-old welcomed the opportunity to coach Brazil, especially since he is well-versed in the situation in South America. He sees it as a historic opportunity to lead Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.
It should be noted that Jesus remains the favorite for the job, according to Brazilian media, with Ancelotti dreaming of leaving Real Madrid early.
