Real Madrid players expressed their anger at a crisis they faced severely this season, and it does not seem possible to solve it by the beginning of 2025.
In general, all players around the world complain about the large number and pressure of matches, and it reached the point of calling for a general strike to pressure FIFA and UEFA to reduce the schedule.
Now Real Madrid is adding a new crisis, which is playing its matches outside the Santiago Bernabéu late, whether in La Liga or in the Champions League.
According to the newspaper “AS”, Real Madrid played 12 out of 14 matches outside its stadium late at night, which causes more stress for the players.
The newspaper quoted a source from inside Real Madrid, “We are tired of returning home at three in the morning, if we are lucky. And the next day, we have to train! It is already difficult to get enough rest with this amount of matches, let alone when the match schedules are like this.”
“We have adapted to the busy schedule, but returning late like this takes an extra toll on us physically and mentally,” he continued.
It doesn’t look like this problem will be solved in the second half of the season, with Real Madrid still playing late in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, and it’s likely to continue in La Liga as well.
