Official: Arsenal Grants Premier League an Extra Champions League Place!

The English Premier League has secured an extra place in the next edition of the Champions League, thanks to Arsenal’s victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

Starting this season, UEFA grants an extra place to two European leagues based on the results of the teams participating in the previous edition. Germany and Italy were the first two countries to benefit from this.

According to Sky Sports, the English Premier League has secured an extra place in the 2025-26 Champions League.

Thus, the fifth-place team will qualify directly for the league stage in the next edition of the “Big Ears.” Surprisingly, the number of English participants is likely to increase to seven.

If Aston Villa wins the Champions League and Manchester City wins the Europa League, the number of English teams will increase to seven, provided that Aston Villa is outside the top five in the Premier League this season.

Given the current Premier League schedule, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are the teams that have qualified for next season’s Champions League, alongside Liverpool and Arsenal. However, the matter will be decided at the end of the current season, amid fierce competition from Manchester City and Aston Villa.

It should be noted that La Liga is currently the most likely to be the second-placed league, given its significant advantage over the Bundesliga in the rankings, unless Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt win both the Champions League and Europa League.
