Official: Dortmund confirms star’s absence from Barcelona match

Borussia Dortmund announced in an official statement the nature of Marcel Sabitzer’s injury and the length of his absence.

The Austrian left the Leipzig match on Saturday with an injury, and it was clear that the injury was not minor at all.

According to Dortmund’s statement on Sunday, Sabitzer is suffering from a serious knee injury and will be out for at least four weeks.

It is now certain that Sabitzer will not be with Niko Kovac’s team in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona on April 9.

The German club has high hopes that Sabitzer will recover in time or early, allowing him to be available for the return match the following week at the Olympic Stadium in Luis Companys.

The 30-year-old Sabitzer has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund this season, without scoring or assisting.
