The Egyptian national team will lose one of its most prominent stars in recent times when it faces Sierra Leone on Tuesday at Cairo International Stadium in the sixth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The focus here is on Pyramids star Ibrahim Adel, who was ruled out of the last match against Ethiopia just hours before kick-off due to injury. It was later confirmed that he would not be able to make it to the Sierra Leone match.
According to Egyptian media reports, Adel is suffering from a second-degree adductor strain, and his chances of being ready for the important Sierra Leone qualifier are slim.
Based on this, coach Hossam Hassan decided to exclude the player from the camp and return him to his club, Pyramids, to undergo a treatment program that will return him to the field soon and prevent further aggravation of the injury.
The Egyptian national team has several options on the left wing to replace Ibrahim Adel. They can rely on Omar Marmoush, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and Ahmed Sayed Zizo, making the Pyramids star’s absence more than manageable.
It’s worth noting that Egypt needs nine points from four matches to secure its fourth World Cup qualification, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
