Real Madrid has officially announced the renewal of Luka Modric‘s contract with the club for another year.
The Croatian international’s contract expired at the end of last season, but an agreement was reached between him and the Real Madrid management in May for renewal, with him accepting the role of a substitute player.
Despite turning 39 and having several lucrative offers on the table, Modric has chosen to stay for another year with his “dream club”.
Modric signed the renewal contract on Wednesday evening in an official ceremony, and took his usual photo with president Florentino Perez with the 15 Champions League titles behind him.
Modric moved to Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013, where he has made 534 appearances in all competitions since then, scoring 39 goals.
Modric is the player with the most titles in Real Madrid’s history, tied on 26 titles with Nacho, and with his continuation for another year, the opportunity has become available for him to break this legendary record on his own.
