Official: Turkish Football Federation punishes Mourinho after pinching Galatasaray coach’s nose

The Turkish Football Federation announced the punishment of Fenerbahçe coach Jose Mourinho for his behavior during the Galatasaray quarterfinal match.

The “Special One” pinched the Galatasaray coach’s nose after his team suffered a 2-1 defeat and exited the competition.

After the incident became the talk of the world, the Turkish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee decided to punish Mourinho with a three-match ban.

This sanction will only apply to next season’s Turkish Cup matches, meaning the coach will normally be present in Fenerbahçe’s upcoming matches this season.

Fenerbahçe midfielders Ferid and Mert Hakan Yandas received three-match and one-match bans, respectively. Fenerbahçe’s assistant coach and goalkeeping coach were also suspended for four matches, while sporting director Mario Branco was fined.

It’s worth noting that Mourinho is seeking his first title with Fenerbahçe, and his only hope is in the Turkish league, where he currently sits second, three points behind Galatasaray.
