The crisis of Zamalek player Ahmed Fattouh has ended, after the Marsa Matrouh Criminal Court ruled to imprison him for one year, but with a suspended sentence.
Fattouh had hit a police officer with his car on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, which led to his immediate death.
It was later proven that Fattouh had used hashish while driving, so he was imprisoned on charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs and is being tried.
During the past weeks, the Zamalek player succeeded in reconciling with the family of the deceased by paying compensation worth 14 million pounds, and the case was then dropped by them.
On Saturday, the court decided to imprison Fattouh for one year with a suspended sentence for 3 years, which means that if he commits a similar crime during that period, the suspended sentence against him will be implemented.
In addition, Fattouh was fined 20 thousand pounds and his driving license was cancelled.
Thus, the curtain falls on Fattouh’s crisis that has been going on since last August, noting that the player has returned to participating normally with Zamalek since his release on bail in late September.
Now, Fattouh will be able to travel normally with Zamalek and the Egyptian national team to play any match outside Egypt.
