The Sports Writers Association in England announced that Phil Foden, the Manchester City star, won the Player of the 2023-2024 season award in the English Premier League.
Foden is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, as proven by the numbers, as he has scored 22 goals and assisted 10 others in all competitions so far.
As a result of the 23-year-old’s amazing performances, he was chosen by sportswriters by 42% as the best player in the Premier League, ahead of Arsenal’s Declan Rice, who finished runner-up.
The list of the five best players in the Premier League, in addition to Foden and Rice, included the names of: Rodri, Manchester City player, Martin Odegaard, Arsenal player, Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa player, and Cole Palmer, Chelsea player, respectively.
It is noteworthy that Foden is the third player to win this award from Manchester City in the last 4 years, after Robin Diaz achieved it in 2021, and it went to Erling Haaland last season.
It is noteworthy that Manchester City still has the opportunity to achieve the double, as it can return to the top of the Premier League standings if it wins its matches, and will compete in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at the end of this May.
