Officially, Barcelona Announces New Barca B Coach

Barcelona has officially appointed Albert Sánchez as the new coach of the reserve team, replacing the departed Rafael Márquez.

Márquez surprised the Catalan club’s management last week by leaving to become an assistant to Javier Aguirre in charge of the Mexican national team until 2026, then taking over as coach of his country until 2030.

Sánchez had worked as an assistant to Márquez in leading Barça B over the last two seasons, which strengthened his position with the club’s management as he is well-acquainted with all aspects of the team.

The 37-year-old coach previously worked at Barcelona as an assistant to Óscar López with the youth team. He will be in charge of Barcelona B for one season according to the contract signed between the two parties.

Barcelona was very close to qualifying for the Spanish second division last season but lost the playoff match in the final moments and will play in the third division next season.
