It has been confirmed that Lamine Yamal will not participate with the Spanish national team during the current international break after Barcelona’s statement in which it announced the details of the player’s injury and the duration of his absence.
The 17-year-old did not participate in Barcelona’s match against Real Sociedad on Sunday, and coach Hansi Flick raised concerns about him when he said that he might not participate with the team after returning from the international break.

What is Lamine Yamal’s injury?
According to Barcelona’s official statement, Yamal underwent extensive examinations on Monday that revealed a first-degree sprain in his right ankle.
In principle, the injury does not seem worrying or serious, and all the player needs is rest and a treatment program in order to return and participate in matches.
How long will Yamal be absent from Barcelona due to the injury?
The statement indicated that Yamal needs two to three weeks to recover and return to participate in matches again.
Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation are expected to exchange medical reports so that the player is officially excluded from Luis de la Fuente’s list during the current international break.

Matches expected to be missed by Yamal
If Yamal recovers in just two weeks, there is great hope that he will be available for the match against Celta Vigo on November 23.
However, if the player of Moroccan origin needs a longer recovery time, i.e. 3 weeks, then he will be absent against Celta in La Liga and Brest in the Champions League, and will return for the match against Las Palmas on November 26, or after that against Real Mallorca.

Yamal is one of Barcelona’s most important players, and has so far played in all of Barça’s matches this season except for the recent match against Sociedad.
