Barcelona announced in an official statement that Andreas Christensen suffered a new setback that will keep him out of the stadiums for a month.
The Danish international was absent from Barcelona at the beginning of the season due to injury, then he was injured again in January and only returned less than a week ago.
According to Hansi Flick in the press conference before the match, Christensen’s injury recurred during his participation in the Blaugrana’s training on Saturday.
In Barcelona’s statement, the club said that the player will need a month to return and participate in matches, which means he will be absent until the end of the international break in March.
The 26-year-old has only played 27 minutes this season with Barcelona in all competitions.
Barcelona wanted to get rid of Christensen last winter, but the injury he suffered prevented that and many teams opposed the idea of acquiring his services.
The Dane is on the list of players expected to leave next summer, with the trio of Inigo Martinez, Pau Coparsi and Ronald Araujo in central defence.
