Barcelona announced in an official statement that it has renewed the contract of its young defender, Pau Cubarsi, until the summer of 2027.
The 17-year-old was promoted to the first team this season alongside Xavi Hernandez, and quickly established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the world.
With the brilliance of the great player, he became the focus of attention of many clubs around the world, which forced the Barcelona administration to intervene and negotiate with him to renew his contract and ensure his long stay at Camp Nou.
Indeed, the two parties succeeded in reaching an agreement under which Cubarsi will remain until the summer of 2027 in Catalonia, with the inclusion of a legendary penalty clause that protects him from the interest of any club in the world.
If anyone wanted to sign Cubarsi, he would now have to pay 500 million euros, the value of the release clause, which is a practically impossible number.
This season, Cubarsi participated in 31 matches with Barcelona in 4 tournaments, and scored one goal in a total of 2,424 minutes.
As a result of his extreme brilliance, Cubarsi joined the first Spanish national team and participated in two matches despite his young age. He is expected to be on coach De La Fuente’s Euro roster, and will also participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
