Barcelona secured second place in the Spanish League standings after a 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium.
The Catalan club’s hat-trick came in the match that took place in the 37th round of La Liga, through Robert Lewandowski and Pedri (two goals).
The Blaugrana score rose to 82 points, and with it second place was confirmed, while third Girona has 78 points after a 3-1 victory over Valencia with one round left in the competition.
The importance of occupying second place in the La Liga standings is that it will give Barcelona the opportunity to participate in the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, which will be held on Saudi soil.
Barça will participate as runner-up in La Liga alongside champion Real Madrid, as well as cup champion Athletic Bilbao and runner-up Real Mallorca, which guarantees the Blaugrana huge funds to help it overcome the current economic crisis.
