FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that Inter Miami will represent the United States in the 2025 Club World Cup.
The new World Cup will feature 32 teams from around the world, and America, as the host, has the right to grant a ticket to one club that did not qualify from the continental championships.
Infantino said during Inter Miami’s celebration of their victory over New England Revolution in the American League on Sunday morning that Lionel Messi’s teammates will complete the list of teams participating in the 2025 Club World Cup.
The Swiss added, “Everyone knows how much Miami loves football, and how Inter Miami enjoys support from all over Florida and beyond for the great football they present.”
It was logical for Inter Miami to participate in the competition scheduled to start in June 2025 in order to attract more sponsors and television broadcasting as a result of Messi’s leadership of the American club.
Inter Miami will not be the only American club participating, but also Seattle Sounders as it was one of the CONCACAF Champions League champions in the last 5 years.
It is worth noting that there are 5 Arab clubs that will participate in the Club World Cup, namely Al Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia and Wydad of Morocco from Africa, and Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia and Al Ain of the Emirates from Asia.
With the participation of Inter Miami, all teams have been determined except for one club, which is the Copa Libertadores champion for this season, which will be determined in a month from now.
