Officially.. Hossam Hassan excludes Salah from the Mauritania match

The Egyptian Football Association announced in an official statement the exclusion of Mohamed Salah from the match between the Egyptian national team and Mauritania in the fourth round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Salah participated in the Mauritania match that was held in Cairo and scored a goal during the Pharaohs’ 2-0 victory.

According to the statement, the national team coach Hossam Hassan met with Salah and they agreed that he would not participate in the Mauritania match scheduled for October 15 in Nouakchott.

The decision to let the 32-year-old leave came in order to give him rest in light of the great pressure of matches this season.

At the same time, Salah fears for himself from injury, as the match will be held on an artificial turf field and in light of the physical strength of the Mauritanian national team, there is a great danger to all Egyptian players.

It is noteworthy that Egypt needs to win or draw against Mauritania in order to guarantee qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, given that it leads the group with 9 points, like 3 points each for Mauritania, Botswana and Cape Verde.
