Milan confirmed that its Algerian star Ismail Bennacer underwent surgery, which will keep him out of the stadiums for a long time.
Bennacer was injured while he was with the Algerian national team during the last international break and before the Liberia match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Bennacer was diagnosed with a tear in his left calf, and he underwent surgery on Monday in Finland, according to Milan.
At the same time, the Italian club confirmed that the Algerian international will not return to the stadiums for at least 4 months.
Bennacer has only participated in one match with Milan this season, and his long absence is a major blow to his career with the Rossoneri, especially since his place in the starting lineup of Paulo Fonseca’s squad was reserved.
It is worth noting that Bennacer’s injuries have become frequent in recent years. In the season before last, he suffered a cruciate ligament tear, and last season he was injured twice and played only 25 matches in all tournaments.
