Officially… Real Madrid confirms the departure of its star

Real Madrid announced in an official statement the departure of captain Nacho Fernandez and the non-renewal of his contract, which expires on June 30.

The Royal Club thanked its captain and considered him one of the legends given that he achieved 26 championships over the 23 years he spent inside the walls of the Santiago Bernabéu.

In turn, Nacho sent a touching message to the club and the fans, when he said, “It is very difficult for me, but it is time to leave with confidence and calm. I have done everything I have to represent this club on and off the field.”

He also added, “There are no words to express my feelings. I wanted to end my career with a beautiful match and at the top. Perhaps it is impossible to get anything better than that, to leave as the leader who lifted the Champions League No. 15 in the club’s history.”

He concluded, “I would like you to always remember me as a young player who gave everything for his club. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. See you soon.”

The Saudi media had confirmed that Nacho had reached an agreement with Al-Qadisiyah Club to join its ranks on a two-year contract, and the matter is expected to be officially announced within the next few hours.

Nacho, 34 years old, became the fourth Real Madrid captain to leave in the past four years, after the departure of Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Karim Benzema over the past three years.

It is noteworthy that Luka Modric will renew his contract for a year, and he will become Real Madrid’s captain next season, followed by Dani Carvajal.
