Olivier Giroud announced his retirement from international football with the France national team after the Roosters bid farewell to Euro 2024 in the semi-finals.
Giroud is considered the oldest player in the French national team currently, as he participated for the first time with his country in 2011 and since then he has been a key player with the blue team.
Throughout Euro 2024, Giroud played only a few minutes, the last of which was 11 minutes against Spain in the semi-final, a match that France lost 2-1.
The 37-year-old was content with his historic career with France and decided to stop it at this point, knowing that he was an essential part of the legendary achievement of achieving the 2018 World Cup.
Giroud is considered the all-time top scorer for the French national team, having played 137 matches in which he scored 57 goals, thus surpassing all French legends throughout time.
It is noteworthy that Giroud’s contract with Milan expired at the end of the past season and he announced his departure to the United States to begin a new and final chapter in his football career.
