UEFA announced two sanctions against England national team star Jude Bellingham and Turkish national team player Merih Demiral due to their behavior during Euro 2024.
Bellingham made an unethical move towards the Slovakian fans while celebrating the wonderful equalizer he scored for England in the final moments of their round of 16 match.
As for Demiral, he launched a political protest called the “Grey Wolves” after scoring two goals against Austria, which sparked great controversy and anger towards the German fans in particular.
As for Bellingham, the player was punished with a one-match suspension and a fine of 30,000 euros, but this suspension can occur in any match throughout the year and not necessarily the Euro 2024 matches.
But Demiral’s punishment was severe, as he will be suspended for two matches for making a political gesture in complete contravention of the laws and rules established in the world of football.
Thus, Bellingham can lead England in the quarter-final match against Switzerland, while Demiral will not participate against the Netherlands, and his absence will extend to the semi-finals if his country succeeds in crossing the “mills.”
