The Abu Dhabi court ruled to imprison Zamalek trio Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, Mostafa Shalaby and Nabil Emad Donga for a month on charges of assaulting a security guard at Al Nahyan Stadium.
The incident dates back to after the Zamalek and Pyramids match in the Egyptian Super Cup, when an argument developed between the trio and a security guard at the match stadium.
When the trio went to the police station to give their statements, it was decided to detain them and bring them to trial, before the trial was postponed to October 29.
On Tuesday, the court officially issued a decision to imprison the trio for a month and fine each of them 200 thousand dirhams.
According to Egyptian media, Zamalek asked its lawyer to appeal the decision in the hope of reducing the penalty to the maximum possible extent.
Some rumors have been raised in the past hours that the trio may be released by the ruler of Abu Dhabi after an Egyptian diplomatic intervention, but this has not been confirmed yet.
