Athletic Bilbao star, Nico Williams, set one condition for Barcelona’s management to agree to join the Catalan club during the current summer Mercato.
Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, announced his club’s desire to sign a contract with the 19-year-old, and also stressed Barcelona’s economic readiness to conclude this deal.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Williams welcomes joining Barcelona and has a desire to go through this experience, but he stipulates that the deal will not be completed at the end of the Mercato.
After Williams finishes participating with Spain in Euro 2024, he will take a leave of absence until the end of this July, during which the Laporta administration must settle economic accounts.
Thus, the first week of August, or the second week at most, is the last opportunity for Barcelona to include Williams, but if nothing new is found during them, it is unlikely that the player will agree to move to Camp Nou.
On the one hand, Williams wants not to wait until the start of the season to decide his fate, and on the other hand, not to leave Bilbao confused at the last minute and leave a void in Ernesto Valverde’s squad without the ability to compensate.
It is worth noting that the contract of the owner of Ghanaian origins with Bilbao includes a penalty clause of only 60 million euros.
