Barcelona wants to sign Marcus Rashford, and the player also wants to move to the Catalan club, but money is the only obstacle to completing this deal.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, the huge salary that Rashford receives cannot be met by Barcelona at the moment.
It is assumed that Barca will obtain the services of the English international on loan until the end of the season, but it is not willing to pay more than 6 million euros (including taxes), which is only 3 million euros of Rashford’s salary.
This leaves Barcelona with an amount ranging from 3 to 6 million more to meet Rashford’s full salary, which amounts to 400 thousand euros per week.
The latest report considered that the only condition for achieving this deal will be that Manchester United bears a significant portion of Rashford’s salary.
The 27-year-old was willing to take a pay cut to wear the Catalan shirt, but even if that happened and United agreed to cover part of the salary, joining the Camp Nou would not be smooth sailing.
Barcelona still need to sell at least one player to free up space for Rashford’s salary in the club’s budget, and thus meet Financial Fair Play regulations.
The Spanish club want to get rid of Ansu Fati, but the 23-year-old refuses to leave, while Eric Garcia has decided to stay despite the many offers he has received, leaving it unknown which player will leave and give Barca hope of signing Rashford.
