Premier League legend takes over as Feyenoord coach

Feyenoord have reached an agreement with Dutch football legend Robin van Persie to take over the team immediately.

Brian Priske took over as Feyenoord coach at the start of this season, succeeding Arne Slot who moved to Liverpool, but after 8 months the Danish coach was sacked due to poor results.

Pascal Bosschaert, the youth team coach, has been in temporary charge of the first team for the last 10 days, and has managed to lead Feyenoord to a major surprise by eliminating Milan at the San Siro in the Champions League round of 16 play-off.

Feyenoord’s management has decided to return Bosschaert to the youth team, and appoint Van Persie as the new coach of the first team with a long-term contract until the summer of 2027.

Van Persie is currently coaching Heerenveen, with whom he began his career last summer, and has so far played 26 matches in all competitions, winning 9, losing 11 and drawing 6.

The Premier League legend is a son of Feyenoord, as it is the club where he began his career before moving to Arsenal and returned to it in the last season before retiring, after which he worked as an assistant coach for the first team and coached the youth team until last summer.
