Pulisic celebrates his goal with a Trump dance and stirs controversy

Milan star Christian Pulisic has stirred up controversy after scoring a goal in the match between the US and Jamaica in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Pulisic gave America the second goal after an exceptional touch that transferred the ball over the Jamaican goalkeeper in the match that ended with a 4-2 victory for “Uncle Sam’s country”.

Pulisic then went to celebrate his goal, then performed the dance of the new US President Donald Trump, which has become famous recently.

Pulisic was not the first athlete to perform this dance, as he was preceded by wrestler Jon Jones, who celebrated this way after winning a match in the presence of Trump and Tesla owner Elon Musk.

After that, this celebration became famous in America, specifically in the National Football League, and more than one player there imitated it.

After the match, Pulisic was asked about why he celebrated, and he was satisfied with confirming that politics had nothing to do with what he did.

“I’ve seen everyone do it in American football, I’ve seen Jon Jones, we’re just having fun,” the Milan star said.

“I thought it would be fun to celebrate like that, obviously it’s Trump’s dance but it’s just a dance that everyone did, it wasn’t him who made it, it’s not a political dance, it’s just a dance that a lot of people did and enjoyed, and I did it.”

FIFA bans political celebrations at its stadiums, and in other circumstances Pulisic would have been at risk of a ban or at least a fine.
