By July 1, Modric’s contract had expired, as had Vazquez’s contract with Real Madrid, but according to all media outlets, the club had completed its renewal agreement with them.
Real Madrid posted on its official website the list of its players for next season, and it did not contain the name of Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement at the end of the season.
But at the same time, the list witnessed the presence of Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez, indicating that the renewal has been completed, and all that is missing is the signing of contracts only.
What confirms that the matter is not a coincidence or a mistake is not only the absence of Kroos’s name, but the removal of the names of Nacho and Joselu after their departure to Al-Qadisiyah of Saudi Arabia and Al-Gharafa of Qatar.
The site also added the name of the latest signing, Kylian Mbappe, as well as newcomer Endrik after the end of his loan to Brazilian Palmeiras.
It is noteworthy that with the departure of Nacho, Modric will become Real Madrid’s first captain next season, while Vazquez will be the third captain after the Croatian and Dani Carvajal.
