Real Madrid fans expressed their anger at Kylian Mbappé by booing him during Sunday’s match against Athletic Bilbao.
The French international was suspended for the match, but he was keen to support the team by being present in the stands at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The camera caught Mbappé in the stands, and the player was surprised to find that the fans began to boo him violently as soon as his image appeared on the screen.
Mbappé began hearing the boos, and his face turned, clearly frustrated by the fans’ behavior.
Mbappé is not the first player to be booed by the Bernabéu fans. Even Cristiano Ronaldo was not spared at times, and Karim Benzema was also a victim.
Mbappé has so far failed to make the expected contribution, especially in the Champions League, and his poor form in the two quarter-final matches against Arsenal has been questioned.
However, the 25-year-old’s overall numbers this season aren’t bad, as he has scored 32 goals and provided four assists in 49 matches across all competitions.
