Real Madrid finds Militao’s replacement in its “old notebooks”

The newspaper “AS” reported that a new option has appeared in the last hours on the Real Madrid management table to support the center-back position next winter.

The royal club is looking for a new defender to replace Eder Militao after it was confirmed that he will be absent for the rest of the season due to a cruciate ligament tear in the last match against Osasuna.

According to the latest report, the latest name on Real’s table is Mario Hermoso, who is currently playing with Roma in the Italian league.

Hermoso joined Roma for free last summer, and his contract still extends until the summer of 2027, but the player may very much welcome a return to Spain in light of the difficult situation his team is experiencing.

Hermoso is one of Real Madrid’s sons, as he grew up in the club’s academy until he was sold to Espanyol in 2017, from where he moved to rivals Atletico Madrid and played there for 5 years until he left at the end of last season.

Real Madrid see the 29-year-old as an ideal choice to fill the gap in the centre-back position, given his long experience in La Liga and his awareness of the situation within Real Madrid, in addition to his technical abilities that qualify him to play as a starter in any major club in Europe.

It remains unlikely that Roma’s management will agree to sell Hermoso, especially since Mats Hummels wants to leave in January, and thus there will be a major crisis for the Giallorossi in the centre-back position.

As for the player, there is no doubt that he dreams of returning to Real Madrid, and with the fluctuations within Roma, he will also welcome this step, but the obstacle will be the agreement between all parties on the value of the deal.
