Real Madrid’s management is working on all possible scenarios in the current summer Mercato, one of which is that Andriy Lunin decides to leave and not renew his contract, so it has already determined who will succeed him on the Santiago Bernabeu bench.
Negotiations between Lunin and the Real Madrid management are still ongoing, but Thibaut Courtois is a major stumbling block in them, as he will remain the main goalkeeper for the Royal Club next season, most likely until his retirement.
At the same time, the Ukrainian goalkeeper has received many offers recently from big clubs that guarantee him constant participation, which makes the option of leaving a strong possibility to escape from the bench.
According to AS newspaper, Real Madrid management chose Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia to sign him if Lunin’s departure is confirmed.
The young Spanish goalkeeper caught the attention of many clubs, and since the start of the Mercato, his name has been linked to many Premier League clubs, so Real Madrid’s mission to sign him will not be easy.
Garcia is 23 years old and his contract with Espanyol extends until the summer of 2028, and his market value is currently estimated at only half a million euros.
It is noteworthy that the series between Lunin and Real Madrid will likely continue until the end of the player’s participation in Euro 2024 with Ukraine, but there are high hopes that the renewal agreement with him will succeed, with the promise of more participation in the next season.
